 Dear Parents and Caregivers
Kia ora and welcome to Team Hapua. We hope you all enjoyed your holidays and were able to relax and enjoy time with your family. Our teaching team of Barbara Inglis, Tim Colhoun and Sonya Harris is looking forward to making this a very successful year for your child and we know you are too.
Our school year begins with establishing expectations, values, rules and routines that are important in creating a happy class and team culture.
We will be undertaking some testing over the next two weeks so we can best cater for your child’s learning needs and strengths this year.
Below are a few things that we feel are important for you to know about Team Hapua. We appreciate you taking the time to read through this letter so you become familiar with how our team programmes will run.
 Reading: Week 1
We will be taking this week to familiarise children with ] reading routines, activities and resources. In Week 2 your child will start to bring home their group reading book. Once this begins you will need to record the name of the reader in their home learning book and sign it each night Monday -Thursday.
 Sunhats
Sunhats must be worn in Term 1 and 4. Can you please ensure your child returns their hat to school. New hats can be purchased from the school office. All hats must be named.
 Swimming
This is part of the school programme and all children are expected to take part. Due to predicted hot weather is very important that your child brings their togs every day. If your child is unable to swim for the day please let us know either by a note, email or a phone call. PLEASE name all of your child’s clothing.
 Home Learning
Children will take Home Learning books home from next week (week 2) Monday to Thursday.
Home Learning books must be returned daily along with the reading folders and books. Expectations and helpful ideas on how to support your child’s learning at home are contained in the front of the Home Learning book.
 Assembly
These are held every second week on Friday mornings beginning in Week 3. You are most welcome to attend. We will let you know when it is our Team’s turn to present our learning in assembly.
Meet the Team - Monday 12th February
Session 1 begins at 3:15-3:45pm, this is repeated at 3:50-4:20 pm. We hope we can meet you all to explain our programmes in more detail.
Finally, we want you to know that we recognise the importance of the home school partnership and communication, therefore, if you have any questions or concerns please don’t hesitate to come and see us, phone our classes, write us a note, or contact us via email.
We are really looking forward to getting to know you and your wonderful children this year!
