Inquiry Leads Us To Help Save Our Kiwi's!

image

On the last day of Term 3 Team Hapua students - with the help of our wonderful parents - raised a whopping $101.40 that has gone toward helping to save one of our most treasured native birds.

Our inquiry 'Our People, Our Place' led our students to appreciate the rich land of Aotearoa and all who dwell within. As students became aware of how this very land we live in has been treated over time they grew an increasing appreciation for what we have; people, plants, birds and the history behind each.

As our final part of our inquiry - Taking Action - students expressed a desire to help out in some way, with their biggest connection being made with the native wildlife. This led the charge in reaching out and digging deep. Students chose to earn money at home and donate it to saving one of our most treasured birds, the kiwi. They raised $101.40 which will be given to Willowbank Wildlife Reserve - who hosted us at the beginning of our journey - this term. We are very VERY grateful to all parents and whanau who helped each student in raising this donation.

We realised, though, that there is always more we can do and that we shouldn't just stop here.

Here are a couple of inspirational and motivational videos that may encourage your child to continue...
