Massive Donation given to NZCT (via Willowbank) from Team Hapua

WE DID IT! The $101.40 that Team Hapua earned has been donated to help nurture, save and protect our Kiwi.

You may remember that in our inquiry we decided to earn some money and donate it towards helping our beloved Kiwi. Well, the $101.40 that we raised was given by three of our most enthusiastic students to our new friend Janet.

Janet is from New Zealand Conservation Trust (NZCT), which is based at Willowbank Wildlife Reserve. She was absolutely fantastic! Janet brought in a REAL (stuffed) Kiwi and a Kiwi egg that we were able to touch and hold. She talked to us about the history of the Kiwi, it's current situation and what she will put our donation towards.  We grew so much more in our appreciation because of this experience.

Janet said that she would use the donation to buy 2 traps for predators of the Kiwi. We chose to have them both put in the Hanmer Springs area and Janet has said that she will get in touch with us soon to let us know what she caught.

We're so thrilled to have done our bit, but equally we know the help cannot stop there.

Maybe you might like to visit Willowbank Wildlife Reserve, or other such places, these holidays to experience more of this wonderful land of ours and build up the love!
